Global CSR leaders – EMG founder Drs Daan Elffers has been recognized as one of the world’s ‘top 100 most talented CSR leaders’ by the World CSR Day organization. The list includes a diverse range of senior executives in the field of CSR and sustainable development from all over the world. This announcement was made during the 2015 World CSR Congress held at Taj Lands End in Mumbai, India on 18 February 2015. The event was attended by government ministers, CEOs and executives from a multitude of leading corporations and non-profit organizations.
Dr R.L. Bhatia, Founder and CEO, World CSR Day, stated, ‘These leaders have shifted the paradigm and showcased courage to change. Each leader is a pioneer in their area of work or operation.’ He added, ‘I am sure Daan will continue to inspire many for the future to do good work.’
Prior to the leaders being identified, intense research is carried out by the selection group, which consists of international professionals who examine progress by leaders in the field of sustainability. Their findings result in a shortlist which is then reviewed by a jury comprising senior professionals from across the globe. The five criteria adopted are strategic perspective and building collaborative relationships; personal credibility, integrity & ethics; innovative sustainable solutions; incorporating ethical values and involvement in communities; and protection of the environment.
Daan Elffers commented, ‘It is a great honour to be included, and it’s exciting for all of us at EMG to know that our dedicated CSR work is continuing to take shape in all respects worldwide.’
One of the members of the World CSR Day Advisory Council is Alison Rowe, Global Executive Director for Sustainability at Fujitsu. In a previous interview with EMG, Alison Rowe shared her thoughts and opinions about the use of technology for the greater good, and the journey of sustainable development made by Fujitsu.
